Colon Hydrotherapy

What is colonics?

Colon lavage, today known as colon hydrotherapy, was first recorded in 1500 B.C. in the ancient Egyptian document, Ebers Papyrus, which dealt with the practice of medicine. These enemas were described as the infusion of water into the intestine through the anus. Galen (2nd century A.D.), also recognized and was a proponent of the use of enemas.

Since the turn of the century, colon hydrotherapy has experienced periods of  mixed reaction. The factors that contributed to the ambivalence were primarily due to the practice of colon hydrotherapy by the untrained and unskilled. When the therapy gained the attention of such physicians as James A. Wiltsie, M.D., and Joseph E.G. Waddington, M.D., the great therapeutic benefits of this modality were once again recognized.

Today, with modern technological advancements in instrumentation, along with educated and skilled hydrotherapists, colon hydrotherapy has become a valuable adjunctive modality in the treatment of disease. Combined with sound nutrition, exercise and a positive mental and spiritual outlook, colon hydrotherapy can play an important role in achieving and maintaining vibrant health.

Who requires Colon Hydrotherapy?

Everyone can benefit from some internal cleansing. Every day our bodies are exposed to toxins and pollutants in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. All of these elements take a toll on our digestive and eliminative organs.

How should I prepare for a colonic?

Refrain from eating for at least 2 hours prior to the colonic, however you may drink water up until your treatment. Eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables in the days prior to the treatment.

Do treatments hurt?

No. In fact, many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.

Is Colonic Hydrotherapy safe?
Yes. In fact with modern colon hydroptherapy equipment, treatments are much safer than even the common enema.
