What are the benefits of massage?
All massage modalities are highly beneficial for your physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual health. From a western medical perspective, when muscles are stressed, they block the circulation of oxygen
and nutrients throughout the body; build up toxins in the muscle tissue; and cause inflammation. Massage helps:
- loosen muscle tissue, thereby
stimulating proper circulation of blood and oxygen, releasing toxins such as lactic and uric acid and reducing inflammation.
- increase flexibility by stretching ligaments, tendons and connective tissues (fascia) to keep
them supple and pliable.
- stimulate the skin and nervous system,
and is highly effective in alleviating stress and reducing blood pressure.
From an eastern perspective, massage unblocks stagnant energy in the body, freeing the client from physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual pain.
Massage is a beneficial complement to standard medical care practices such as surgery (from
knee replacements to open heart surgery), cancer treatment, use of blood pressure and cholesterol medications, treatment of
depression and anxiety, and many more.
Toxins are released during massage so it is important
to drink plenty of water afterwards to help eliminate them from the body.
