Pre-Natal massage is a technique specifically tailored to the expectant
mother's needs. During the massage, the client is properly positioned and supported, using pillows and padding to ensure
comfort and safety for the mother and baby. Generally the therapist uses Swedish massage strokes and avoids certain areas
of the body that are contraindicated for pregnant women. Pre-Natal massage can:- ease
backaches, headaches, shoulder and neck aches caused by muscle tension and shifts in posture to accommodate increasing weight
- decrease pain in the pelvic/hip area
- increase circulation
- improve digestion
- reduce fatigue
- improve
skin elasticity that can help reduce stretch marks
- reduce
swelling in places such as hands and lower legs
- alleviate
stress on weight-bearing joints, like knees, which are impacted by the extra weight of a growing baby
- promote relaxation and deep breathing
- help stabilize hormone levels decrease anxiety and depression
